The city of Norco has been dubbed “Horsetown USA” and is defined by the equestrian lifestyle. Word on the street is that there are more horses in Norco than there are people. Instead of sidewalks in Norco, there are horse trails so you can ride down even the main street on your horse. Adding to the charm is that many of the stores and restaurants have hitching posts so you can actually tie your horse and do your shopping or dining.
Norco hosts a myriad of horse-related events that are inspired by the horse. They have a beautiful, recently built event center called the George Ingalls Equestrian Center where they host many of those events. The city is really about community and you will feel that at their many community events such as Horseweek or the annual Fair where you will find lawnmower races, country dances, a pet parade, a talent show, and a rodeo. Other events happen throughout the year and include horse shows, parades, holiday decorating contests, and even a beauty pageant crowning Miss Norco.
Norco is also a horse destination spot for some of the surrounding counties because it has several feed stores, tack stores, trailer lots, and consignment shops. You can find horse-related things in Norco that are much harder to find in areas with smaller horse communities. The main street is 6th Street and that’s where most of the major commerce is.
